Yes. Your expenses will go up, but your payroll will go down which is what matters as far as the cap is concerned.

I believe you guys that that works, but it really puzzles me that it does. Those base files are old. If there's any difference at all, they should be older than what we have on our computers. I was skeptical it would work, but it looks like it may indeed have. I "updated" in-game and it took my game date from 3-15 to 3-3. And I just checked some player moves I made in my export and it looks like they took. I'm still thinking we might find some weird stuff with news or something...

We should probably point out that, among other player moves, promoting players to the bigs can increase your payroll.
